The Australian self-service industry is off to a running start this week. Monday we reported a deal between Symstream and Optus to provide Optus’ Australian ATM fleet with Symstream’s wireless technology, and i-design today announced its expansion to Australia.
Now comes news of Brisbane, Australia-based Yeahpoint’s partnership with professional audiology chain Bay Audio to design a touchscreen hearing test for consumers. According to a news release, the solution is ideal for deployment in retail locations, offering customers a free, interactive hearing test and a printout of the results. Yeahpoint developed the first device in February and completed a full rollout in Bay Audio’s stores in April.
“The touchscreens are a quick way for clients to see whether they need to undergo a full, diagnostic test with a qualified clinician,” said Andrew Campbell, general manager of Bay Audio Australia. “Now, when a client books in for an appointment, we know they have a problem and we can act quickly.”
Health screening kiosks in retail environments are gaining ground. SoloHealth’s vision-screening EyeSite kiosk has made U.S. headlines in recent months, and the company announced this week a partnership with Eyemaginations to enhance the educational functionality of the devices.
