Apple may roll out iTunes kiosks

• 11 May 2009

AppleInsider.com: Apple has filed a 19-page patent conceptualizing a line of wireless iTunes kiosks that would allow iPod, iPhone and Mac users to download digital media wirelessly in areas where a wireless network may be unavailable and/or where they may not want to physically connect their devices to a conventional media-download kiosk. Citing problems with other media-distribution kiosks that require users to physically connect their devices, which can be inconvenient and damaging, the company says it will establish a “virtual physical connection” between the kiosk and the user’s device through which a wireless channel may be launched.
