NRF: HP TouchSmart powering new Escalate retail kiosk

• 13 Jan 2010

In addition to showcasing its new POS system for retailers, HP announced at this week’s National Retail Federation Convention and Expo that its TouchSmart hardware powers the new Interactive Store Kiosk introduced at the show by Escalate Retail.

The kiosk allows customers to browse video content relevant to their shipping choices, view Escalate's latest social-networking stream, read customer reviews and even access the company's entire product catalog. TouchSmart makes it possible for consumers to use multiple touchpoints to easily "grab" the digital information onscreen.

"Joining our retail expertise and software with HP’s innovative TouchSmart hardware allows us to expand the reach of our store kiosks to retailers," said Mike Julson, chief technology officer for Escalate Retail. "Together, HP and Escalate are creating an immersive user experience that allows shoppers to get all the information they need to make a well-informed purchase while still in the store, which ultimately benefits retailers."
