MindBio Therapeutics has developed an AI-powered fatigue detection system that analyzes a voice to identify signs of fatigue and impairment, according to a press release.

The Vancouver, British Columbia-based biotechnology company said the technology will be integrated into its Edge AI Intoxication Detection Kiosks, expanding capabilities beyond drug and alcohol screening. The system is aimed at industries where worker alertness is critical, including aviation, transportation and mining.

The company recently filed a patent application covering technology that uses voice characteristics to detect the presence of neurologically active substances and fatigue. The system analyzes short spoken phrases or sentences and uses proprietary AI models to determine whether an individual may be impaired or fatigued, according to MindBio. The company claims the patent application includes multiple first-of-their-kind innovations in the field of voice-based diagnostics.

MindBio said it remains on track to begin commercial testing of its Edge AI Intoxication and Fatigue Detection Kiosks in late Q2 2026. Company officials believe the technology could create new opportunities in digital health diagnostics by offering a non-invasive method of screening workers and individuals for impairment and fatigue before safety incidents occur.
